"Somebody That I Used To Know"
(feat. Kimbra)

[Gotye:]
Now and then I think of when we were together
Like when you said you felt so happy you could die
Told myself that you were right for me
But felt so lonely in your company
But that was love and it’s an ache I still remember

You can get addicted to a certain kind of sadness
Like resignation to the end, always the end
So when we found that we could not make sense
Well you said that we would still be friends
But I’ll admit that I was glad it was over

But you didn’t have to cut me off
Make out like it never happened and that we were nothing
And I don’t even need your love
But you treat me like a stranger and it feels so rough
No you didn’t have to stoop so low
Have your friends collect your records and then change your number
I guess that I don’t need that though
Now you’re just somebody that I used to know

Now you’re just somebody that I used to know
Now you’re just somebody that I used to know

[Kimbra:]
Now and then I think of all the times you screwed me over
But had me believing it was always something that I’d done
But I don’t wanna live that way
Reading into every word you say
You said that you could let it go
And I wouldn’t catch you hung up on somebody that you used to know

[Gotye:]
But you didn’t have to cut me off
Make out like it never happened and that we were nothing
And I don’t even need your love
But you treat me like a stranger and it feels so rough
And you didn’t have to stoop so low
Have your friends collect your records and then change your number
I guess that I don’t need that though
Now you’re just somebody that I used to know

[x2]
Somebody
(I used to know)
Somebody
(Now you’re just somebody that I used to know)

(I used to know)
(That I used to know)
(I used to know)
Somebody

This song has been blasting my ears since the morning. I’m literally listening to this for, like, 100 times (and still counting)! And I am addicted to it. Maybe it is because of the playfulness of the music it has and it reminds you of an ignorance you once had but with the lyrics, it gives the bitterness of love. Every line stabs you with a melody that gives you blissfulness and rhythm. This song is simply perfect for someone who has a piece of indie/experimental pop-rock personality in them. This is just perfect. Gotye (pronounced as Gaulthier in French), an Australian Indie musician, has made this song wonderfully and I am really loving his album Making Mirrors. It is more addicting than drugs.

The song features Kimbra, a singer from New Zealand and her voice is stupendous! Her falsetto is amazing and her part in this song made me a fan. The first of Kimbra’s songs I know was Settle Down and it was just magnificent. I am not a fan of NZ’s kind of style in music but she’s an exception. She and her voice is superb! My hat’s off to you, Kimbra.

This kind of music makes me want to get out and explore different things aside from the norms. Change COURSE!

Amazing music is amazing.
